The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) is working towards a BOLD future by highlighting and supporting innovative and influential physiatrists across the country to achieve a new vision and opportunities for PM&R. This new vision was developed based on input from thousands of physiatrists.
Physiatry's Bold, New Vision
the essential medical experts in value-based evaluation, diagnosis, and management of neuromusculoskeletal and disabling conditions.
indispensable leaders in directing rehabilitation and recovery, and in preventing injury and disease.
vital in optimizing outcomes and function early and throughout the continuum of patient care.
Innovators and Influencers™ is your Academy's way of highlighting the physiatrists across our diverse specialty that are driving positive change.
Beginning in 2016, AAPM&R launched an initiative to hear from members and define a new vision for the specialty, Visioning PM&R Bold. Through this initiative, we gained input from thousands of physiatrists across the country, many of whom have a passion for innovation in the specialty. In the spirit of those we met, both in person and virtually, we want to connect members with these stories and foster members’ journeys to be innovative and influential in their work and lives. Borrowing from Visioning PM&R Bold, this initiative is For Our Patients, For Our Specialty, and For YOUR Future.
Innovators and Influencers™ are celebrated for leading the way for the other physiatrists.
Who are Innovators and Influencers™?
In short, any physiatrist. Navigating a transition in your practice, guiding the next generation, sharing in a critical conversation that impacts the future of the specialty? We want to hear your story! In addition, to help members further develop their innovation and influencing skills, your Academy is focused on creating resources and programs to support you. There will be more leadership development, more knowledge sharing, and more opportunities to grow your skills and be innovators and influencers of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
